Seabuckthorn Tea : A Himalayan Secret

Seabuckthorn berry also known as the ‘holy fruit’ grows in the Himalayan desert of Spiti, Himachal Pradesh. Due to its ability to withstand the extreme temperatures , this plant is a super food. It is rich in Vitamin B1, B2, K, A, E , folic acid, over 60 antioxidants , atleast 20 minerals and healthy fatty acid.

Berries are hand picked by the tribal people. Seabuckthorn jam and crush is made out of them. The berries have a sweet citric taste.

If you happen to visit these higher altitudes don’t forget to try the seabuckthorn tea which is particularly popular amongst the local population. It is made out of the seabuckthorn extract and in some places from the crush. The tea has a unique flavour and is very energising.
